Bridal Shoot: More Show Than Tell
October 3 2014

The reason why I love photography so much is because it allows me to express myself in the most natural way I know how. With the help of my camera I am able to think of an idea and make it become a reality.

An idea I recently had was to portray the stylish, unique and imaginative array of options the wedding industry has to offer and by doing so, reassuring brides that they don’t have to go with the status-quo when it comes to choosing a wedding dress and accessories.

I am lucky to work in a fabulous industry where I am surrounded by like minded people who share my passion for all things beautiful, creative and different. With their over whelming support and generosity I can now share, what I feel are inspirational images that will encourage any bride to express themselves on their wedding day.

I chose to create five looks being Contemporary Twist, Boho Chic, Hollywood Glamour, Unassuming Elegance and Rock n’ Roll Chic. All of which I wanted to be stylised, yet approachable, as well as reflective of my fashion influences. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words and so I will let the images do the talking …

Along with photography I love art too so when fate introduced me to Sophia Victoria, a contemporary art curator, it was the perfect opportunity to combine the two mediums and explore how we could work together on enhancing the location of the shoot.

We chose to add a large painting by Abigail Box with a Tiger theme that would compliment the empowered stance of the models. Sophia then commissioned Matt Gee to create a bespoke hand made bouquet, perfect for the Contemporary Twist look, made from copper and shells. Matt’s approach highly resonates with my thinking that when styling your wedding you do not have to opt for the obvious.

When it comes to bouquets and accessorizing your wedding dress I wanted to show a range of options and materials you can choose from, be it metal, floral, silk, paper, buttons and beads. But if you want to embellish your look in other ways then why not choose a statement belt or brightly coloured purse?

A wedding look, like all things in life, is about personal preferences, so brides should feel free to choose a style they want because it reflects them, so I hope this post has shown the choices are endless and very exciting!

Thank you so much to the amazing team who helped make my idea become a reality. To see more images click here
